Who we are

The Local Government Finance Professionals Association of Queensland (LGFP) represents the financial and accounting professionals in Queensland Local Government. It was originally formed in 1980 as the Local Government Accountants Association of Queensland (LGAA). In 2011 at the AGM, the decision was made to change the name to better reflect the work undertaken by members in Queensland local government.

The Association provides a forum for members to discuss the various problems which arise in carrying out the requirements of the Local Government Act, other the Local Government financial requirements, and other matters of common interest within Local Government.  The flagship event of LGFP is the 3-day Annual Conference which is held each year to allow officers to discuss contemporary issues and learn from experts and peers.

Commences evening of 21 November and goes through to Friday 24 November 2017.  Separate registrations are required for each event.  Registrations will open Aug 2017.

Annual General Meeting

November 2017

The 2017 AGM will be held at the Pullman Cairns on 22 November 2017 at 5pm.

The LGFP held their 3rd very successful CFO and Finance Managers Forum on 21 July 2017 in Brisbane. Over 50 participants from 34 Councils attended.  The presentations are available on the past conferences tab.

ATO Reminder that Councils have additional taxation reporting.  The reporting period starts 1 July 2017.

The Local Government Finance Professionals provided a Submission to the Inquiry into Local Government Sustainability in Qld

                 

Record numbers (272 delegates)attended the 2016 LGFP conference.  63 Qld and 2 interstate Councils were represented. 
DILGP, LGAQ, QTC and QAO also attended.
                
There was a strong field of nominees for the Local Government Finance Professionals Qld 2016 Local Government Finance Professional of the Year.

Two "Dedication to Local Government and Council" Awards were made. David Munro Etheridge Shire Council and Anthony Archie Mareeba Shire Council were successful.
