WHO ARE WE?

The Local Government Finance Professionals Association of Queensland (LGFP) represents the financial and accounting professionals in Queensland Local Government. Our Association was originally formed in 1980 as the Local Government Accountants Association of Queensland (LGAA). In 2011 at the AGM, the decision was made to change the name to better reflect the work undertaken by members in Queensland local government.

The Association provides a forum for members to discuss the various problems which arise in carrying out the requirements of the Local Government Act, other the Local Government financial requirements, and other matters of common interest within Local Government.  The flagship event of LGFP is the 3-day Annual Conference which is held each year to allow officers to discuss contemporary issues and learn from experts and peers.

Annual Personal Development and Business Improvement Bursary

Applications are now closed for LGFP's 2019 Personal Development and Business Improvement Bursary.  Two bursaries of $5,000 each are being offered to support Queensland local government employees to undertake personal development and/or business improvement initiatives with a focus on long term local government sustainability. The program would suit officers wishing to undertake a study tour to explore better practices and future possibilities in their area of interest.

Winners will be announced at our Annual Conference in November 2019.
