WHO ARE WE?

The Local Government Finance Professionals Association of Queensland (LGFP) represents the financial and accounting professionals in Queensland Local Government. Our Association was originally formed in 1980 as the Local Government Accountants Association of Queensland (LGAA). In 2011 at the AGM, the decision was made to change the name to better reflect the work undertaken by members in Queensland local government.

The Association provides a forum for members to discuss the various problems which arise in carrying out the requirements of the Local Government Act, other the Local Government financial requirements, and other matters of common interest within Local Government.  The flagship event of LGFP is the 3-day Annual Conference which is held each year to allow officers to discuss contemporary issues and learn from experts and peers.

The 2019 Annual Conference will be the 40th Anniversary of the Conference.  It will be held 19-22 November 2019 at Royal Pines Gold Coast.  This will be an exciting program with specialist key note speakers including Anders Sorman-Nilsson LLB MBA, Andrew Grant UK, Chris Morrell GFOA USA, Bernard Salt AM and Dylan Alcott OAM. 

Information on the Masterclass (separate cost) that precedes the conference can be found here. The Masterclass is on "Closing the Loop Between Asset Valuation and Condition Assessment Processes".

Annual General Meeting

Our 2019 AGM will be held on 20 November 2019 during our Annual Conference.  A Committee is elected each year.  The current President is Tony Brett. Head over to our About Us page to find our more about our current Committee.


   
Proposed Changes to LG Regulations

The Committee has developed a paper using the answers from the survey of LG Finance Professionals.  The submission has been forwarded to the Department.

Audit Committee Survey Results

In January 2019 the LGFP Committee sought responses to a survey on Audit Committee and the Internal Audit Function processes within Council.  This survey results were complied into a document which has been forwarded to the Queensland Audit Office and the Director General DLGRMA.

2019 CFO and Finance Managers Forum

65 CFOs and Finance Managers from 38 Councils attended the Forum held 19 July 2019 at the Brisbane Airport Conference Centre.  The papers from the Forum can be found on Events - Past Conference/Events page.
